How will my idea be protected?
Before we even speak with you about your idea, concept, or product we sign a mutual confidentiality agreement. Trust, confidentiality, and the security of your, and our intellectual and physical properties are of paramount importance to us. They are the foundation on which all our business is based.
I'm afraid my idea might be considered "silly."
There are hundreds of very successful devices that have been considered "silly." We have worked on projects that are "toys" and "tools" and several high tech medical devices. If you have done some market study about your product and you feel it has a future in the marketplace we should talk.
How long does the process take?
So much depends on what you are looking for us to do. We do work for clients that is the bare minimum they need to start to conceptualize the commercialization of their product....to actually doing everything for them including finding and managing their manufacturing resource, creating the packaging, even the marketing plan and advertising.
What type of equipment and techniques do you use for development, research and testing?
From initial concept development to production, Envision is a leader in leveraging the latest 3D solid modeling software and rapid prototyping technology. Our prototype parts are made right from computer data and can be put straight to work as testing samples, in marketing displays, or as functional parts. We also have a full fabrication facility, industrial machine shop, (including CNC machinery) for conventional prototype and short run production and high-end specialty testing equipment for when practical testing just isn't enough.
You mention failure of being under-resourced. What kind of start up funds do I need to have in place?
You should consider $5,000 a starting point that accomplishes basic research of the product and market. We have brought products to market for as little as $20,000 and as much as $100,000. It really all depends on the product itself and the market it is to enter.
Do you typically "partner-up" with your projects? Is this an option?
Occasionally, it depends on the willingness of our client and our desire and passion for your idea.
Do you insist on owning a share of the company?
No, we do the majority of our business on contract only relationships.
Do you provide resources like capital and legal advice?
We provide access to proven professionals we have had experience with. The relationships that may come from our introductions to trusted resources are proprietary and confidential between our resource and the client.
Do I need a patent before I talk to you? Or can you help me get that also?
You do not need a patent, and we can help you to create all the prerequisites to take to a patent attorney to get one. The ability to create these prerequisites (prototypes, drawings, research) are a key aspect of our deliverables. Please be assured that we work with confidentiality agreements and your ideas and products are protected at all times by our professionals.
Do I need a business plan before I meet with you?
No, but you should have done very basic research on your product and the marketplace to justify to yourself its potential.
